Shardonnay

Black Comedy

By Hester Tingey

Shardonnay, a Stortford girl who likes to have herself a good time, sells her husband's sperm without his knowledge or consent three times a day for fifteen years. She's surfing the profits and living it up.

Then the kids, little clones of their father, start turning up at the door. Her husband Matt thinks they are carol singers and advises them never to give up. They audition for the x-factor as a choir called The Lost Boys and become very famous.

Shardonnay and Matt have a son, Nick, who becomes obsessed with The Lost Boys. He doesn't realise it, but they are his brothers. Nick goes on a spiritual quest with the choir, some of whom are getting close to the truth about their origins. Shardonnay starts to realise the meaning of the word 'consequences.' The truth will out....

This book is a religious allegory with a difference. Shardonnay is a character you are not likely to forget. Her world starts out colourful, wild and free from moral obligations but becomes rich with insight, always in her own inimitable style.
